SCHOOLS PROJECT NEWS
In September 2017, Outside Chance relaunched its Year 6 primary school 'transition' module and Year 7+ anti crime, anti gang secondary school module in west London venues for its 14th year. In the 2016 to 2017 school year, we saw 9,064 school students and young people, breaching our 6,579 outputs figure for the 2015-2016 school year by 2,485 or +37%. This considerable increase in outputs has been made possible, in part, due to new funding from The Heathrow Communities for Youth Fund, John Lyon's Charity, The Goldsmiths' Company and The Tudor Trust, our first and largest funder to date.
'It's YOUR Choice!' is a high impact, visual, interactive, early intervention programme which takes Year 6 'transition' primary and secondary school pupils and young people through a journey from peer pressure, bullying, antisocial behaviour, gangs and petty crime into actual prison conditions, clothing and the often harsh regime of a young offender unit. The impact of committing a crime, of a criminal record and a prison sentence on a young person's life are all covered in considerable detail. The programme involves student interaction in a number of 'mock' crime scenes.
By the close of the 2017-2018 school year in July 2018, our workshops will have been viewed by 150,000+ students and young people in primary and secondary schools and youth groups across Greater London.
Outside of our operational boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hounslow, Slough and Spelthorne, fees for our workshops are applied on the basis of £245 each in venues west of a north/south line from Enfield to Croydon and £295 each in venues east of a north/south line from Enfield to Croydon. The additional costs reflect the extra staff and travel costs involved in reaching East London destinations. Additional workshops delivered in the same venue and on the same day cost an extra £100 for the second workshop and an extra £80 for the third workshop. Please see 'Our Operational Area And Fees' page for more details.
