What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under 3 brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a plush top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva recently updated the Zenhaven, altering the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; find out more about the differences below. We prepare to check the brand-new version soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mainly of latex, which is intrinsically resilient. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Firm side feels a bit firmer), which might prove useful if you’re uncertain what you choose or if your needs alter with time. This is not a traditionally cushy mattress, but it uses a flexible cushion, great edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Offered its innate durability, the Zenhaven should work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
These mattresses were also assessed in our group tests carried out for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve interviewed ratings of experts in the bed mattress market and in materials science; gone to dozens of mattress display rooms, factories, and stores; and pored over the fine print on specs, warranties, and return policies.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brands. We do understand that the company uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (rather of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spine assistance”; we’re less pleased with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and durable foams and coils.
