What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end bed mattress under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic an excellent amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than lots of hybrid designs. These thinner layers of foam combined with the Euro-top’s fiber fill soak up some movement, lowering how much movement is felt across the surface of the bed. Sleepers may still experience some motion transfer when their partner modifications position or gets up during the night due to the mattress’s 2 layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft variation of the Saatva takes in slightly more movement than the High-end Firm and Company choices. While all of the Saatva firmness alternatives have pressure-relieving potential, the amount of pressure relief that a specific experiences on the bed mattress will differ based partially on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most press relief on the Plush Soft variation of the mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the very best balance of contouring and support from the Firm variation.
Note: Saatva just recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences listed below. We plan to evaluate the new version quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which may prove valuable if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs alter over time. This is not a conventionally cushy mattress, however it uses a supple cushion, excellent edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for numerous weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also examined in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam mattresses and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I have actually talked to scores of specialists in the mattress market and in products science; gone to lots of mattress shops, factories, and display rooms; and pored over the fine print on specs, guarantees, and return policies. Most recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for numerous weeks.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brands. But we do know that the company uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and just natural cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spinal column support”; we’re less pleased with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and durable foams and coils.
