What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top, and a plush top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Keep in mind: Saatva just recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; find out more about the differences below. We plan to test the new version soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which might prove helpful if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs change over time. This is not a conventionally cushy mattress, but it uses a flexible cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness.
These mattresses were also examined in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the best innerspring bed mattress. We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brand names. We do understand that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and only natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “ideal spinal column support”; we’re less pleased with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer support and durable foams and coils.
