The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than many hybrid models. These thinner layers of foam integrated with the Euro-top’s fiber fill soak up some motion, reducing how much motion is felt throughout the surface of the bed. Sleepers may still experience some motion transfer when their partner changes position or gets up throughout the night due to the mattress’s two layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva takes in a little more motion than the Luxury Company and Firm options.
While all of the Saatva firmness options have pressure-relieving potential, the quantity of pressure relief that a specific experiences on the mattress will differ based partly on their weight and sleep position. Individuals who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most push relief on the Plush Soft variation of the mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the very best balance of contouring and support from the Company variation.
Keep in mind: Saatva recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions listed below. We plan to evaluate the new version quickly and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Firm side feels a bit firmer), which might prove valuable if you’re not sure what you choose or if your requirements change over time. This is not a traditionally cushy mattress, however it provides a supple cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for several weeks in my own home. These mattresses were also evaluated in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the finest innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I’ve spoken with scores of professionals in the mattress market and in products science; checked out lots of mattress factories, shops, and display rooms; and pored over the small print on requirements, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for a number of weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. We do understand that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and just organic cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva touts such bonus as zoned layers for “optimum spine support”; we’re less impressed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer support and resilient foams and coils.
